North Fork Yoga Shala Retreats

Here at North Fork Yoga Shala, in Greenport, we are really proud of our expanding offering of several retreats both near and far as well as the variety of workshops and trainings that we hold both with our own instructors and talented guest instructors and facilitators.

Our retreats, currently led pre-dominantly by Claire Copersino, our Founder and Director, span the globe, and range from a few wonderful days within driving or public transport distance to further afield in Mexico, Costa Rica, various locations in Europe, northern Africa and several in the planning stage that will be further afield.  It is often the case that once someone has joined one retreat, they catch the bug, so to speak, and attend another .. and another .. and another.  Don’t say you weren’t warned J

It is truly magical to watch new connections form on our retreats, new yoga-family bonds be created and very much a family vibe set in within the first 24 hours amongst our small, intimate groups wherever we may be calling home on our retreats.  These connections then grow once back home and you now know that person who was once just a face across the studio.   As a result the community and family feel of the studio just continues to deepen and expand and sweeps everyone who walks through our doors up into the glow.

Haramara Retreat, Sayulita, Mexico

Haramara Retreat is the vision of owner, Sajeela, who wanted to create a retreat focused on simplicity, beauty, peace and depth of a natural, open, healing and safe space. Thus, Haramara was born. It is located on 12 pristine private acres between the Sierra Madre Mountains and the Pacific Ocean on the breathtaking coastal region of Nayarit, near the town of Sayulita. The retreat is nestled into the tropical jungle vegetation on a hillside above the magnificent rugged coast of the Pacific Ocean and its private and pristine beach.

The retreat is spread across the private beach connected by a network of private trails with 18 casitas, 2 yoga shalas, Haramara Restaurant and a saltwater infinity pool. Haramara is an easy 40 minute ride from Puerto Vallarta airport and shuttles will be arranged to transport participants from the airport to Haramara.

 

 

 

Casitas are spacious, with King Sized beds that can be separated into two twins as needed. There are a few casitas available for triple or even quadruple occupancy. Each casita offers privacy and seclusion while still offering spectacular views of the Pacific ocean and jungle canopy. All casitas have their own unique private bathroom.

In a secluded clearing down near the ocean is Larimar, the open air therapeutic wellness center. It is a quiet refuge in a one-of-a-kind setting where the rhythmic sound of the surf and the gentle breeze through the trees puts you back in touch with nature. A wide variety of therapeutic treatments are available including swedish & thai massage, reflexology, body scrubs, facials and so much more.

Haramara Retreat is deeply committed to the protection of the pristine jungle surrounding Haramara Retreat,  to preserving its cultural and ecological diversity. For that purpose, the popular hike to the Cerro del Mono (Monkey Mountain), which is one of the sacred sites of the Huichol culture, was created.

 

The spectacular view from the top of the mountain will give you a sense of the area’s beauty, which is the home of jaguars, pumas, deers, and a vast biodiversity of flora and fauna. Haramara Retreat has been protecting this area for the past 18 years, which implies legal costs, consultants and a partnership with Pro Sayulita, a legal non-profit organization devoted to the protection of rural and urban areas of state. All proceeds from this optional excursion go to Pro Sayulita to continue their valuable work.

 

There are many other excursions available that allow you to see and experience the surrounding area. I will organize a couple for us to experience together if you choose, and you can also take advantage of others as you wish. Some examples include whale-watching, snorkeling, or surfing excursion and getting into the jungle on horseback, taking a zip line canopy adventure, visiting the crocodile refuge or an ancient petroglyph tour.

You can make your retreat as unscheduled as you wish or take advantage of some hikes and excursions that I will organize as well as take advantage of the wonderful a copious spa treatments available.

*All casitas have an en-suite architecturally original private bathroom open to the jungle*

Deposit of $1000 reserves your spot. DEPOSITS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE. Cancellations prior to September 1st 2026 will receive a refund less the $1000 deposit.  Cancellations after September 1st 2026 are non-refundable with any outstanding monies owed fully payable.   From September 1st 2026 onward full amount is required upon registration and any remaining balances are due. PARTICIPANTS ARE RESPONSIBLE TO BE ADEQUATELY INSURED, THEREFORE TRAVELER’S INSURANCE IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED.  We highly recommend that all our participants secure quality travel insurance.  AIG offers Travel Guard, and Sqauremouth is an online platform that aggregates between insurers to provide competitive rates.  By submitting payment toward your retreat you agree to these terms. PLEASE PURCHASE TRAVEL INSURANCE – Unforeseen circumstances do occasionally happen and you must take responsiblity for your own circumstances.
