North Fork Yoga Shala Retreats

Here at North Fork Yoga Shala, in Greenport, we are really proud of our expanding offering of several retreats both near and far as well as the variety of workshops and trainings that we hold both with our own instructors and talented guest instructors and facilitators.

Our retreats, currently led pre-dominantly by Claire Copersino, our Founder and Director, span the globe, and range from a few wonderful days within driving or public transport distance to further afield in Mexico, Costa Rica, various locations in Europe, northern Africa and several in the planning stage that will be further afield.  It is often the case that once someone has joined one retreat, they catch the bug, so to speak, and attend another .. and another .. and another.  Don’t say you weren’t warned J

It is truly magical to watch new connections form on our retreats, new yoga-family bonds be created and very much a family vibe set in within the first 24 hours amongst our small, intimate groups wherever we may be calling home on our retreats.  These connections then grow once back home and you now know that person who was once just a face across the studio.   As a result the community and family feel of the studio just continues to deepen and expand and sweeps everyone who walks through our doors up into the glow.

Claire Copersino Yoga Retreats, trainings, and workshops are curated based upon suggestions from you as well as initiatives from our team of instructors and we always welcome your thoughts, ideas and feedback.

Following our recent incredible adventure around Morocco we have so much interest from people for Morocco that we put together a brand new itinerary and route for March of 2026. We begin, as before, by being picked up at Casablanca airport and heading north to the capital of Morocco, Rabat. We’ll have lunch and then check in to our Riad where we’ll have a little time to settle before gathering for our first dinner in Morocco. Then off to our rooms for our first night in Morocco and a great nights sleep.

Our next day begins with Yoga and then breakfast at our Riad before meeting our guide to see some of what makes this Imperial City so special. Our walking tour will include Loudaya Kasbah, the Jewish Quarter and Mosque Hassan before we stop for lunch. From there we depart Rabat for Fés. We’ll arrive at the beautiful Riad Tafilalet in Fés late afternoon/early evening and after checking in enjoy our first dinner in the oldest city in Morocco before settling into this beautiful Riad for our first of two nights.

Fés boasts the largest and best preserved medieval Medina in all of Africa, a fascinating car-free labyrinth of sometimes tiny alleyways, winding streets and extraordinary history and culture. After Yoga and breakfast, our guide will meet us for a day of exploring this ancient city and some of what makes it so unique and captivating. Fés is world famous for its mosaic foundries, tanneries as well as the  al-Qarawiyyin University, a UNESCO World Heritage site and its lively street life that feels lost in time.  You will get to soak all this in as our guide gives us a well-rounded walking tour with a chance to see artisans at work and shop for treasures to either have shipped or carry home with you. Eventually we’ll return to our Riad after a full and magical day to unwind over dinner and our second night here.

Next morning we’ll enjoy another Yoga practice at the glorious Riad Tafilalet before having breakfast and departing for Chefchaouen, the blue city. We’ll drive through the Rif mountains, passing Kasbahs, villages and stopping at Volubilis, the Roman City, where we’ll have lunch. We arrive in Chefchauen late afternoon/early evening and once we’re checked in to our Riad, we’ll gather for dinner before settling in for our first of two nights in this captivating small city.

After Yoga the next morning we’ll enjoy breakfast at our Riad before our guide meets us to take us on a walking tour of the Medina of Chefchaouen when we can learn more about this fascinating small Moroccan city. After lunch in the Medina you’ll have the afternoon to explore this beautiful blue city nestled in the Rif mountains before we have a relaxing afternoon Yoga practice. We’ll gather for dinner at our Riad and settle in for our second night.

The following day begins with Yoga and then breakfast after which we depart for the Red City, Marrakech. We’ll make stops along the way, including for lunch and arrive at the beautiful Riad Nashira in Marrakech early evening where we’ll have a delicious dinner (maybe on their gorgeous roof!) before settling into one of their lovely rooms for the night.

Riad Nashira has a beautiful roof where we’ll enjoy our Yoga practice next morning, after which we’ll head down to breakfast and then be ready to meet our guide for the day. We will explore the Bahia Palace, the beautiful Secret Garden and the souks of the Medina. Marrakech is very lively and more chaotic than Fés and feels more African whereas Fés has a mellower feel with hints of it’s European connections. Walking through the souks are the ultimate way to experience this contrast and energy and our guide will take us on a route that gives a good sense of the different artisans and focuses of different parts of the Medina. We’ll have a great dinner at Riad Nashira before heading to your comfortable room for a second night.

Today we head to the dreamy coastal town of Essaouria for our last three nights. We’ll leave Riad Nashira after a spacious Yoga practice and breakfast and head due west for about 2.5 hours, arriving in Essaouria in time for lunch. From here we’ll check into our Riad and have a little time to explore before afternoon Yoga. Our Riad will serve us a delicious dinner before finding your way to your room for the night.

After Yoga and breakfast in Essaouria, we’ll meet up with our guide for the morning who will show us the highlights of the small historic Medina of Essaouria which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. We’ll wrap up our tour with lunch in the Medina and then a free afternoon to perhaps enjoy a Hammam, or some shopping and exploring this historically important port town.  Another great dinner and second night at our seaside Riad. For our last day (!) we’ll enjoy one more morning Yoga before a yummy breakfast and then depart for a day at the beach. We’ll take a little drive up the coast, enjoy a picnic lunch, some time for swimming, walking the beach, sun-bathing and then roll out our mats for a relaxing afternoon yoga on the beach which will be the perfect wrap to all our Yoga practices in the various places we’ve been. We’ll wind our way back to our Riad for our last night, enjoying one more fabulous Moroccan dinner and squeezing those last few treasures in the suitcase ready for departure the next morning.
