North Fork Yoga Shala Retreats

Here at North Fork Yoga Shala, in Greenport, we are really proud of our expanding offering of several retreats both near and far as well as the variety of workshops and trainings that we hold both with our own instructors and talented guest instructors and facilitators.

Our retreats, currently led pre-dominantly by Claire Copersino, our Founder and Director, span the globe, and range from a few wonderful days within driving or public transport distance to further afield in Mexico, Costa Rica, various locations in Europe, northern Africa and several in the planning stage that will be further afield.  It is often the case that once someone has joined one retreat, they catch the bug, so to speak, and attend another .. and another .. and another.  Don’t say you weren’t warned J

It is truly magical to watch new connections form on our retreats, new yoga-family bonds be created and very much a family vibe set in within the first 24 hours amongst our small, intimate groups wherever we may be calling home on our retreats.  These connections then grow once back home and you now know that person who was once just a face across the studio.   As a result the community and family feel of the studio just continues to deepen and expand and sweeps everyone who walks through our doors up into the glow.

Claire Copersino Yoga Retreats, trainings, and workshops are curated based upon suggestions from you as well as initiatives from our team of instructors and we always welcome your thoughts, ideas and feedback.

Located on the outskirts of Esporles, high atop a plateau in the heart of a valley, surrounded by the majestic Serra de Tramuntana mountain range, lies the 14th century Finca (farmhouse), Ca’n Torna.  This part of Mallorca is characterized by the surrounding lush mountainscape, a rich sense of Mallorquin village life and boasts some of the most beautiful beaches and areas on the island. The finca, as it stands today, dates back to the 14th century and has been in the family since the 16th century. The house is built entirely out of stone, with parts of the house featuring antiquities in design harking back to the Romans and Arabs, indicating the house has been inhabited and the land cultivated for over 2000 years. The house has many historic features, including a stone cellar that has giant olive oil vats separated by a roman wall, pronounced wooden beams especially present in the kitchen along with a dining table over 8 metres long made entirely out of one piece of oak. Great care has been taken to maintain the most traditional aspects of the property and preserve a rustic feel,  while creating a comfortable updated immersive environment with welcome additions like a salt-water swimming pool, for example.

Our time at Ca’n Torna will be an opportunity to disconnect from the hustle of modern life and reconnect with ourselves as well as each other, nature and the human experience. The focus here is on an intentional return to a more traditional way of doing things from choosing to farm organically, keep bees, make their own jams, soaps and liquor (!) and to create an environment where guests can reconnect to their human roots through clean food, the stunning beauty of nature all around, yoga (of course!) and a wonderful week spent with our beautiful community exploring the magical island of Mallorca.

There are 11 sleeping rooms in the finca oozing with rustic charm, wood-beamed ceilings and several with bi-level layouts, a few of which can be shared by up to 4 people, as well as others for double or single occupancy, with each room having it’s own private bathroom. Ca’n Torna partners with some of the most talented chefs on the island to provide an exceptional culinary experience. Our chef will carefully prepare fresh meals sourced from the surrounding farms for us daily with ingredients being mostly organic and from the region. The purpose-built Yoga Shala is located on the edge of the forest, surrounded by the magestic Tramuntana Mountains, and is fully equipped with mats, blocks, straps and blankets. We will enjoy a spacious morning practice every day and an afternoon practice 3 – 4 times during the week, depending on our excursions schedule. Classes will be accessible to all with an emphasis on modifying as needed and scaling up or down to suit your needs. There is always a wide variety of practitioners with different physical challenges, agility and every other imaginable permutation and Claire is ALL about offering a yoga practice that is inclusive and available to all.

Ca’n Torna is a five minute stroll from the small, traditional village of Esporles, a UNESCO World Heritage Site on the western coast of Mallorca. Here you will find traditional stone buildings, winding streets, cafes, restaurants, bakeries, shops and hiking paths as well as a vibrant Saturday morning market. Additionally there are secret coves aplenty to explore and some of the most beautiful beaches and crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean.
